Death by Chocolate at the Chocolate Room
So I know that a cafe called “The Chocolate Room” is a strange place to go to for lunch, but… I totally had chocolate for lunch.
To be more specific, I had a serving of waffles with strawberries, chocolate and ice cream. For lunch. My whole lunch. And yes. It was delicious.
My dining companion a.k.a. colleague had pancakes smothered in chocolate with a side of chocolate. (And strawberries and cream).
The Chocolate Room is franchised so there are a few around, but the one we went to was in the CBD, located at Shop 210 Maestri Towers, corner of Sussex and Bathurst Streets.
It describes itself as a “boutique chocolate cafe” and if I had to describe it I’d say it’s a cross between Max Brenner and Pancakes on the Rocks, without a savoury menu. (Their website says they offer savoury food, but I certainly didn’t see any).
This place gets a pretty bad rap on Urbanspoon, but for what it was, I couldn’t fault it. The food was very tasty and the service was fine.
If you’re looking for a cafe that only serves dessert, or your thing is a menu filled with chocolate in every which way you can think of (chocolate pancakes, chocolate crepes, chocolate covered waffles, chocolate fondue, chocolate milkshake, iced chocolate, hot chocolate, chocolate chocolates. you get it), then The Chocolate Room is someplace you should visit if you are in the area.
Would I go again? For dessert – not for lunch!
