DIY Pizza Inspiration: Bresaola and Caramelised Tomatoes
Homemade pizza is one of the easiest things to make. Not only is it fast, but it’s pretty difficult to mess up.
All you need is a handful of good ingredients and an oven and voila – a delicious pizza is all yours.
Recently an Italian friend of mine introduced me to bresaola. If you don’t already know, bresaola is a dried meat similar to prosciutto but made from beef. And it’s freaking delicious. I’ve been hooked ever since.
So I got my hands on a few slices and Boyfriend and I created one of the best pizzas we ever made.
Granted we cheated this time round and didn’t make anything from scratch. When we can be bothered we’ll make our own bases and toppings but this time we were looking for a quick-fix dinner. So we sourced our ingredients from an Italian deli.
What did we do?
To make our pizza, we covered a base with pizza sauce and slices of fresh bocconcini and a little bit of grated parmesan. Then we placed slices of bresaola (yummm yum) over the entire base. Over the top of that, we scattered pieces of caramelised tomatoes and chilli marinated feta.
We then baked the pizza in a moderate oven for about 15 minutes and when it came out we topped it off with a handful of fresh rocket.
And boy-oh-boy was it delicious. Like I said, one of the best pizzas I reckon we’ve ever made.
Hope this provides some inspiration for your homemade pizzas!
Would I make it again? Oh, yeah.
Caramelized tomatoes? Yum!
They are so delicious! I’m addicted to them with cheese on crackers too!
