A Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Hello everyone. I know that today is the 19th of January and Christmas and the time for New Year celebrations have well and truly passed. Christmas decorations have long since been taken down and work is back in full swing. I may have taken this holiday thing a little too seriously. My hiatus from blogging (etcetera) has gone on long enough.
So, now I’m back with plenty of exciting posts lined up. While I may have been on holidays from blogging, I definitely haven’t been on holidays from eating. I’ve been cooking up several storms and been trying many a new exciting venue. Recipes and reviews are coming soon. I’ve also had my head in a bunch of new (and old) cookbooks that I can’t wait to tell you about.
In the meantime, here’s some snapshots of the food of my Christmas:

Prawns with mango, coconut and macadamia nuts

Fig, mint and parmesan salad with vincotto

Bean and pomegranate salad

Matt Preston’s turkey and Valli Little’s Asian glazed ham

Slow roasted beef

Salted caramel slice (made by my brother and his girlfriend, adapted from Matt Preston’s new book Fast, Fresh and Unbelievably Delicious)

Chocolate-covered profiteroles (imported from Italy by The Old School House Trattoria in St Ives)

Mixed berry ice cream
And the Vietnamese feast we cooked for my brother’s birthday:

Vietnamese salad

Barramundi steamed in banana leaves

Pork with chilli caramel sauce
Forgot to take photos of the dessert, but my mum made a delicious tropical cake and I made coconut panna cotta with lime and mint granita. Om nom.
P.S This was my view on New Year’s Eve. Spectacular!
I hope your holiday seasons were filled with just as much joy, food and beverages.
Here’s to a fantastic 2014!
